High School Parent Time: Do Something - Week 3
Conversations about injustice can be uncomfortable for people of any age. They require us to reflect and oftentimes to make changes. As you go through this conversation with your student, keep in mind that this may be a conversation that they haven’t fully fleshed out their own thoughts or feelings on yet. It is a great opportunity to have an honest conversation with your student about the importance of fighting for justice, and being a voice for those who are not able to defend themselves. Your student is growing up in a generation where injustice is on the forefront of conversations in their own peer groups - which is a great thing. We encourage you to extend those conversations into your home and contribute to those conversations in a way that reminds us that God really cares about justice and that He is actively doing something about it through us at any age.

FOR DISCUSSION
  1. When it comes to doing something about injustice, where do you fall on a scale of 1-10? 1 = It is what it is. 10 = I’ll do anything to help!
  2. What are the things that might keep us from being a 10 on the scale?
  3. Read James 2:15-16. What are some ways we talk about injustice without actually fighting injustice?
  4. Read Galatians 6:9-10. Why do you think people sometimes begin to fight injustice and give up? What does it look like when someone gives up on fighting injustice?
  5. What are some ways you can avoid “growing weary” when you fight injustice? Is that even possible?
  6. The fight for justice is ongoing, and exhausting. What are some ways to take care of yourself mentally, spiritually, and physically, before you get to the point of giving up?
  7. How can you personally...
    1. Use your voice?
    2. Use your influence?
    3. Use your talent?
  8. By putting our voices, influences, and talent together, what might our small group be able to accomplish together?
  9. What injustice can we help fight?
